What is GivingTuesday?


GivingTuesday is an international day that celebrates charitable giving, and empowers individuals and organizations to transform communities. Giving primarily happens digitally, and it is easy for you to get involved. When you make a donation to Ready to Succeed on GivingTuesday, you are connecting hundreds of first-generation college students and former foster youth to the resources they need to succeed.


Take Ajani, for example. Earlier this year, Ajani joined us at Camp Ready. Camp Ready is a two-day gathering for former foster youth accepted into Ready to Succeed Programming. Scholars have a chance to build community and start planning their future careers. Ajani shared that he didn’t always think he would go to college. “I didn’t have any knowledge. I didn’t have any family members who went to college.” However, Ajani got accepted into UC Santa Barbara, but felt alone and without community.


“Being a part of Ready to Succeed is incredible. I got to meet other foster youth in college, and we were able to connect on a deeper level.” That is to say, thanks to your support Ajani’s mindset shifted. “Now, I can actually find opportunities that I wasn’t able to really find in any other position,” he says. Because of you, Ajani and others Scholars just like him are especially optimistic about their futures.
