Can Summer Camp Make You Ready for a Job? Our Scholars Say Yes!
For the past six weeks Scholars have been working hard by creating resumes from scratch, attending workshops day and night, crafting their elevator pitches, and honing their networking skills. They have been participating in Camp Ready: a summer boot camp designed to make sure that foster youth and first-generation college students Scholars have a career toolkit ready to launch themselves into new opportunities. Thanks to your support, 81 scholars were able to attend and now have the career readiness resources they need!
Last week, RTS Scholars put all these new skills to the test at the very last Camp Ready workshop on Linkedin and networking. In this final session, Scholars received tips on how to set up their Linkedin profiles for networking. They also got the chance to network with over 20 professionals in tech, entertainment, finance, real estate, health care, and more!
Upon meeting Sharon, an RTS Scholar and Camp Ready participant, Tiffany Brown from Hartbeat Productions remarked, “I was really impressed. Sharon was very personable, spoke really well, and was passionate. She was amazing!” It’s evident that Camp Ready has prepared RTS Scholars to start the upcoming school year off strong, thanks to the support from people like you.
